UAE fuel prices for September 2026

The UAE Fuel Price Committee has approved higher retail fuel prices for September 2026. The rates take effect on Tuesday, 1 September and apply across the UAE for the month.

Super 98 costs AED 3.80 per litre, Special 95 costs AED 3.69, E-Plus 91 costs AED 3.61 and diesel costs AED 4.30. ADNOC Distribution displayed the same four prices, including VAT, when this guide was checked on 31 August 2026.

The practical effect depends on the fuel your vehicle requires, the litres you buy and how far you drive. A 60-litre fill costs AED 228 with Super 98, AED 221.40 with Special 95, AED 216.60 with E-Plus 91 or AED 258 with diesel. These are arithmetic illustrations for an empty 60-litre quantity, not a claim about the usable capacity of a particular car.

The September and August figures come from separate dated announcements by the UAE Fuel Price Committee. Petrol therefore rises by 20 fils per litre across all three grades. Diesel rises by 50 fils per litre.

The Committee described the petrol adjustment as between 5.56% and 5.87%. Calculated from the two official monthly tables, Super 98 increases by about 5.56%, Special 95 by about 5.73%, E-Plus 91 by about 5.87% and diesel by about 13.16%. Percentages are rounded to two decimal places.

How much will a tank cost?

Multiply the litres purchased by the price for the correct fuel. The table below assumes the stated number of litres is dispensed; a vehicle's advertised tank size does not mean every fill will use that exact volume.

For any petrol grade, September adds AED 8 to a 40-litre purchase, AED 10 to 50 litres, AED 12 to 60 litres and AED 16 to 80 litres compared with August. For diesel, the respective increases are AED 20, AED 25, AED 30 and AED 40.

These comparisons isolate the price change. The amount actually paid can also change because the tank was not at the same level, the vehicle was driven farther or the pump dispensed a different quantity.

Estimate a monthly fuel budget

If you know monthly litres, the calculation is direct:

**Monthly fuel cost = litres used × price per litre**

If you track distance and the dashboard or manufacturer states consumption in litres per 100 kilometres, use:

**Monthly fuel cost = (kilometres ÷ 100) × litres per 100 km × price per litre**

For example, a petrol car covering 2,000 km in a month at 8 L/100 km would use an estimated 160 litres. At September's Special 95 rate, the arithmetic estimate is AED 590.40. At August's AED 3.49 rate, the same assumed distance and consumption would have cost AED 558.40, a difference of AED 32.

That example is not a fuel-economy promise. Traffic, idling, speed, tyre pressure, air-conditioning, vehicle load, maintenance and driving style can all alter actual consumption. Use completed fills and odometer readings for a personal estimate rather than relying only on the dashboard average.

Which petrol grade should you use?

Use the minimum octane grade specified by the vehicle manufacturer. Check the owner's manual, fuel-filler door or an authorised service source for the exact model and engine. Do not choose a lower grade than the requirement, and do not assume a higher number automatically produces better performance or economy in an engine designed for a lower grade.

ADNOC Distribution describes Super 98 for powerful engines, Special 95 for medium-compression engines and most saloon cars, and E-Plus 91 for low-compression engines and fleet use. Those descriptions are a general orientation, not a substitute for the manufacturer's instruction.

If the car is imported, modified, turbocharged, recently had an engine replacement or has conflicting labels and paperwork, confirm the requirement with a qualified technician or the manufacturer. The cheapest grade is not a saving if it is below specification; the most expensive grade is not automatically necessary.

UAE-specific considerations

Prices are national and monthly

The Committee's announced per-litre prices apply across the UAE for September. They are reviewed monthly, so this guide should not be reused as an October price list. Check the next official announcement before calculating a future journey or fleet budget.

The displayed price includes VAT

ADNOC Distribution states that its listed fuel prices are in AED per litre and include VAT. Keep the pump receipt if the purchase is for a business, rental agreement or reimbursement.

Petrol and diesel are not interchangeable

Confirm the fuel type before the nozzle is inserted, especially in an unfamiliar, rental, company or recently purchased vehicle. If the wrong fuel is added, do not start the engine. Ask the station and an appropriate roadside or workshop service for instructions.

A full tank is not always the published capacity

Published tank capacity and the litres accepted at a fill are different concepts. Fuel may remain in the tank, the warning reserve may not be empty, the vehicle may be parked on a slope, and the pump will stop according to its automatic shut-off. Use the receipt's dispensed litres for the actual cost calculation.

Heat and idling affect the budget

UAE air-conditioning demand and long idling periods can increase consumption without adding much distance. Do not turn off necessary cooling in a way that compromises safety. Instead, combine trips where practical, avoid unnecessary idling and keep maintenance and tyres within the manufacturer's specifications.

Practical ways to control fuel spending

Start with accurate measurement. Reset a trip counter after filling, retain the receipt and record litres, price and kilometres at the next fill. Comparing several full-to-full cycles is more useful than judging one unusually congested week.

Maintain the vehicle on schedule, use the tyre pressures stated for the car and load, and address warning lights or sudden consumption changes. Remove unnecessary heavy items, plan routes before entering traffic and drive smoothly within the law. None of these steps guarantees a fixed percentage saving; their value depends on the vehicle and journey.

For fleet or delivery budgeting, calculate petrol and diesel separately. Diesel's September increase is 50 fils per litre, so applying the petrol increase to a diesel fleet would materially understate the change.

What not to assume

- Do not treat a social-media prediction as an official monthly rate.
- Do not fill with a lower octane than the manufacturer specifies.
- Do not assume Super 98 is an upgrade every petrol engine needs.
- Do not multiply the nominal tank capacity if the tank was not empty.
- Do not use September's price for a fill made in another month.
- Do not compare two fuel bills without checking the litres dispensed.

Bottom line

From 1 September 2026, UAE petrol costs 20 fils more per litre than in August: AED 3.80 for Super 98, AED 3.69 for Special 95 and AED 3.61 for E-Plus 91. Diesel rises by 50 fils to AED 4.30 per litre.

For a 60-litre purchase, that means AED 12 more for any petrol grade or AED 30 more for diesel than the same quantity in August. Use the fuel grade required by the vehicle, calculate from actual litres and recheck the official rate when the month changes.
